Cheryl Timberlake

"I need an outcome I can be proud of," defines Cheryl Timberlake's brand. Cheryl specializes in helping clients achieve consensus in Maine's political and public policy arenas. As a Maine native, Cheryl understands how to get local elected officials and non-profit or business groups working together to address tough policy issues, from alcohol and marijuana regulation to tax reform initiatives, health care decisions and energy policy. Understanding the diverse client affiliations, from industry trade associations to corporate business, Cheryl is adept at making sure her client issues are thoroughly vetted, and an effective advocacy outreach to achieve success.

Cheryl has many long term clients, who appreciate her humor, candor and tenacity from the concept inception phase of an issue through final passage. She is also nimble in off-session, having experience representing client interests in many coalitions, working groups and on referendum campaigns.

What others are saying

When I transitioned from the legislature to the executive director of the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine, I was pleased to see that Cheryl served on the SAM Board of Directors. During her service on the board and later as president, there were major reforms and restructuring of the nearly 10,000 member organization and it is my sincere belief that without Cheryl’s leadership many of those reforms would have failed.
— Hon. David Trahan, SAM Executive Director
As a member of the Maine Beer and Wine Distributors Association, I have worked closely with Cheryl Timberlake for nearly 20 years. Going beyond “lobbyist” .....warehouse tours with legislators , organizing legislative gatherings for meet and greets, active participation in both State and Federal industry issues, an uncanny ability to stay on top of the issues, relationship building with Governor’s Office, Legislators, and State Departments....this is what it takes to be successful in today’s political world.
— Scott Solman, President, Maine Distributors
As Secretary of State, when we hosted the summer conference of the National Association of Secretaries of State, hiring Cheryl and the resources of Capitol Insights only made logical sense. Her strong organizational skills and results-based accountability model not only made our conference a success, but her skill at connecting us with funders allowed the 2015 NASS Summer Conference to set records in attendance, participant feedback, and in revenue returned to the organization.
— Matthew Dunlap, Maine Secretary of State
